Kardan nagu tuld

Ott Lepland · Estonia

Talent: Ott Lepland · Produced by B.east Productions

The video visualises the internal conflict at the centre of "Kardan nagu tuld": the struggle between wanting to live a healthier life and repeatedly falling back into the habits and addictions that work against that goal. We placed the character inside a never-ending cycle, moving from one vice to another while trying to convince himself he is in control. The contrast is intentionally absurd at times, because these are behaviours many people recognise in their own lives. The entire video is filmed as one continuous shot using an MRMC Bolt Jr+ motion-control arm. There are no cuts because, for the character, there is no real escape. The camera moves around him continuously as his behaviour changes, in a deliberately minimal space where each object entering the frame becomes a physical representation of a different habit taking control. The whole video was treated like a stage performance for a robotic camera, where performance, props, lighting and camera had to happen at precisely the right moment with no option to cut away. The result is a video where the technical challenge supports the meaning of the song: the camera never cuts, the character never escapes, and the cycle simply continues.
